Cam indexer, also known as rotary indexer, rotary indexing table in engineering. It is a high-precision slewing device. Under the current automation requirements, the cam indexer is particularly important.
Mainly divided arc cam and plane cam, the principle is different
1. Curved cam

The arc cam indexer is a transmission device in which the arc conjugate cam on the input shaft and the index wheel on the output shaft mesh vertically without a gap. The curved section of the cam profile surface drives the indexing wheel to index, and the straight section makes the indexing wheel stationary and self-locking in positioning.Through this mechanism, continuous input motion is transformed into intermittent output motion.
2. Plane cam

The plane cam indexer is a transmission device in which the plane conjugate cam on the input shaft and the index wheel on the output shaft mesh in parallel without gap.
The curved section of the contour surface of the plane cam drives the indexing wheel to index, and the straight section makes the indexing wheel stationary and self-locking in positioning.
Through this mechanism, continuous input motion is transformed into intermittent output motion. The advantages of the indexer over other components:The cam indexer relies on the gapless fit between the cam and the needle roller (its meshing transmission mode is similar to worm gear transmission),It is a device that repeats the transmission operation along the established cam curve. It inputs continuous rotation drive, and outputs intermittent rotation, or swing, or lifting. Mainly used for automated processing, assembly, testing and other equipment.
